Greetings from Nancy Major—Dove's Nest's New Executive Director

Greetings, new friends!

These past few weeks have been a warm and welcoming time as I have been getting acclimated to all-things-Dove’s Nest. During my first week, our wonderful board president and prior interim executive director, Nancy Kauffmann, graciously opened her lovely home in Goshen, Indiana, to provide me with in-depth and personal onboarding and orientation.

During our time together, she took me to Mennonite Church USA, Goshen College, and to Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, where she introduced me to several members of their leadership teams. I had the fabulous opportunity of meeting with Dove’s Nest’s former executive director Anna Groff! Anna was a terrific resource with a wealth of knowledge. We had a delightful time getting to know one another and discussing her experiences while leading the organization. We began bouncing around some creative ideas for the future and decided we needed more time on a separate visit to explore further.

Nancy K. and I also had online meetings with longtime volunteer Don Lichti, who serves as Dove’s Nest’s bookkeeper; Kathy Haake, our associate director; and Marla Brenneman, the branch manager at Everence Federal Credit Union. Before I headed back home to Wisconsin, we sorted through a dozen or so boxes of historical documents, supplies, and resources, and we loaded several boxes in my vehicle for me to take along.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been meeting one-on-one with each of Dove’s Nest’s board members and have been so moved by their incredible dedication, commitment, and passion for keeping children safe. Some of my next steps include meeting with the members of our Speaker’s Bureau, along with outreach to donors and following up with several of the churches and organizations we’ve worked with over the past couple of years.

I look forward to keeping you posted on this exciting time of discovery and exploration of new opportunities to expand our reach and further our impact on behalf of all of God’s precious children!

I’d love to connect, so please feel free to reach out anytime! My direct email is NMajor [at] Phone: (402) 577-0866.
